Pseudonymized information refers to information about an individual obtained by processing personal information in such a way that it cannot identify a specific individual unless cross-referenced with other information.
Intended use of pseudonymized information is as follows.
The following steps are taken when using pseudonymized information.
- Specify the intended use as precisely as possible and use personal information only to the extent necessary to achieve that purpose, except where required by law.
- Promptly disclose the intended use, except in cases where the purpose has already been publicly announced, or where any of the following items (a) to (d) apply.
- (a) When notifying the individual of the intended use or public disclosure may threaten or harm the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the individual or a third party
- (b) When notifying the individual of the intended use or public disclosure may harm the rights or legitimate interests of the Company
- (c) When cooperation with a national agency or local government to perform duties prescribed by laws and regulations is required, and notifying the individual or public disclosure of intended use would likely impede the performance of such duties
- (d) When the intended use is deemed to be clear in light of the circumstances of the acquisition
- When handling pseudonymized information, the Company will not cross-reference the information with other information for the purpose of identifying the individual to whom the personal information used to create the pseudonymized information relates.
- The Company will not use contact or other information contained in the pseudonymized information to make phone calls, contact via mail or letter post, deliver telegrams, make transmissions via facsimile or electronic means, or visit residences.
